How do I change my recurring investment's funding method to eGIRO? (SG)

If you're currently funding recurring investment orders via a Standing Instruction (SI) – a recurring one-way transfer from your bank account into your Endowus Cash Balance – your investment order may occasionally go unfunded. This can happen if other transactions (e.g. Endowus Fee deductions or other “Pending” investment orders) draw on your Cash Balance, or if the SI amount isn't sufficient.

Switching your funding method to eGIRO resolves this: eGIRO draws the exact amount needed directly from your bank account and earmarks it for that specific order, rather than pulling from your Cash Balance, which other pending investments or fees can also draw on.

There are 3 steps to make this change.

Step 1: Check that your linked bank account has eGIRO activated

  1. Log in to the Endowus app.
  2. Select "More" at the bottom right of the screen.
  3. Select "Linked Accounts".
    • If you see a green "eGIRO Active" icon under your linked bank account, eGIRO is already enabled, proceed to Step 2.
    • If your bank account isn't linked, or eGIRO isn't activated, please activate eGIRO before continuing by following this guide: eGIRO Payments.

Step 2: Change your recurring investment's funding method to eGIRO

  1. On the Endowus mobile app, select "Transfers" at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Select "Manage Recurring Investments".
  3. Select the goal you'd like to update, then select "Edit recurring investment".
  4. Under "Funding method", select your linked bank account with eGIRO enabled (replacing "SGD Cash Balance").
  5. Select "Next" > "Confirm my investment" > “Update and continue” via SMS OTP.

Once this is done, your future recurring investment orders will be automatically funded via eGIRO. The exact cash amount will be drawn directly from your linked bank account, rather than relying on your Cash Balance.

Step 3: Cancel your existing Standing Instruction

If you have an existing SI set up with your bank for this recurring investment, you'll need to cancel it separately with your bank. Please note that this isn't something Endowus can do on your behalf.

  • Most SIs can be cancelled instantly via your bank's internet banking app or website.
  • Steps vary by bank, so please check directly with your bank for exact instructions.

You may skip this step if you fund your recurring investments through one-time manual deposits rather than an SI.
